Friends shouldn't let liberal friends blog

Ok, If I hear one more bleeding heart liberal whine about Bush and what he is doing as far as the Katrina situation, I will...I will...well, just bitch about it. So, here is a liberal friend of mine, that just started a blog. Way to go Will, A+ for style, F for content. Now I shall rebut.

From williambramsey.blogspot.com

The state of Katrina is a state of desperation and one that obviously is misplaced upon our list of priorities at the government level.

Gee, I wonder where this is going.

Congress is not in session at the moment to pass any kind of aid bill for the Gulf Coast affected by Katrina. I just heard on the news moments ago from a prominent Congressman from Louisiana that Congress will be called upon in the next day or so. The days ahead are absolutely critical to the Southeast and everyone at the federal level continues to drag their feet on this.

No surprise here. Congress has always moved at a snail, taking a dump pace, and often with the same "outcome".

I guess my central argument here is the fact that Congress along with President Bush were very swift with their actions to assist the Iraqi people and we still continue that assistance today with a huge military presence. However, when our own people here are dying and in desperate need of help, there was no immediate help except for police on a localized level.

Ok, what do you want them to do, go in before the storm? Would that be quick enough? Honestly, FEMA and the Guard was on the move as soon as it blew through. Of course the first line of help would be on a local level, they are already there. Duh. You are not considering 2 things. One, they have to have time to get there. Two, there may not be a quick way in, they may have to find an alternate route, which may take a little more time.

Was Katrina unforeseen? Did we have no knowledge of her enormous presence? No, we never saw her coming Doesn'tesnt that remind you of another disaster that happened under President Bush's watch? We never knew of any terrorist cells living among us in 34 U.S. cities either.

I hope Katrina won't affect the apples and oranges crop, we will need them for comparison reasons.

I really did not want to tie these two instances together, but I am still amazed that with all the money and effort we put into our intelligence agencies we had no response immediately on the ready.

I assume your referring to the intelligence, or lack there of, before 9/11. Need I remind you that intelligence is something that is gathered over time. Considering that Bush had only been in office for 8 months, the blame for the lack of intelligence lies with the Clinton administration. But he is a Democrat and could not possibly be blamed for anything, because he took the money that we saved and gave it to things like the artist that put crucifix in piss and Maplethorp shoving things up his ass and photographing it. That was money well spent.

The Navy is now on their way to the Gulf of Mexico with supplies and such. They are, as of this post, three days out from serving the first meal to any victims. Three days huh? Why are they so unprepared? Why does it take so long to get supplies to that area when I am almost certain Charleston, SC has many naval ties in Charleston Harbor. A bass boat from Charleston, SC would make it to New Orleans in less than four days.

Will they be serving Bass?

The answer to this question will be that they needed time to gather supplies and load the ships. That is the need for so many days. Again, I knew several days ago that Katrina was going to devastate the Gulf coast. Are you willing to look me in the eye and tell me I knew more about Katrina than the White House? More than FEMA?

First, you didn't "know", you speculated. Nobody knows where a hurricane will go, not even NOAA. Were they as prepared as they could have been, maybe not. You must consider that one day before it hit, some "experts" were saying that it would hit further east. If it had landed in say, Panama City, FL, then the damage to the area's that was hit would not have been any where near as bad. They didn't prepare because they were told that would most likely not hit that area 2 days before. Ah, the short memories of a liberal. I know, maybe we could ask Bush to snap his fingers and everything be back to normal.

On Good Morning America this morning, President Bush pledged "zero tolerance" for looters in the New Orleans area. It is one man's belief that there are more important issues at hand than looting. If I landed in the same situation today as these people, I would also loot any store I could for food and supplies.

So, we should let them go? I guess you mean by "supplies", the flat screen TV's and other non-edible items that will end up in a yard sale or in the "victims" house. I can't believe that right thinking people thinks that we should just look away while these people steal. Yes, when you take something that does not belong to you without permission, it is stealing, no matter how hungry your kids are. The fact is that most of these people are not taking this stuff because they need it, rather, they see an opportunity to steal where there is a reasonable chance that they will get away with it. There may be places they could have gone to get help without stealing, but they choose to steal. Yes, I have kids and No, I would not steal unless I had exhausted EVERY other avenue for help. I doubt that most even looked for help, they just took the easy way. Some cases will be justifable, but the vast majority are people that would rather steal than look for a more morally sound way out.

These people have been told just to wait, we are coming with help. Yes, indeed we are coming with help in three more days. So, for now, just starve and don't worry about dehydration or disease. All the while, we will be sure to prosecute you for doing what is absolutely necessary to survive.

Sorry, Anarchy can not rule.

The food and drinks and other supplies being looted will go to complete waste anyway because there is no power. Let these people have what they need to live and let's worry about other things like widespread disease and evacuation of people from the area. Let us worry instead about all the dead bodies still underwater and let us also worry about the rescue of people still trapped by floodwaters.

Sorry, not all food and drink will go to waste. Some items are non-perishable. The bottled water has a long shelf life as well as can goods. I doubt there are many still trapped by water. If they are any more dead bodies, then I would rather wait for the water to recede as apposed to risking the life of a rescuer, which could be used elsewhere to aid someone still alive. I know it sounds cold, but the dead are not going anywhere. Take care of the living first, then deal with the dead.

After the storm hit, President Bush made a pitch on Medicare to the elderly in Arizona. Who really cares about Medicare when thousands of our citizens are dead due to natural disaster? I know I care nothing about it.

Yes, and you are not old and living in Arizona. The world didn't stop because Katrina hit LA and MS. Admittedly, the death toll will go up, but the last figure I heard was less than 150. Although, 67% of all statistics and figures are made up (including this one). Why is it that some people think that all you have to do is through a big figure out and it justifies your position?

By the way, in closing this post, let us also stay at our ranch in Crawford and not worry about returning to Washington just yet to prepare for the task at hand.

You say you were watching the news today? I heard a report that he cut his stay in Crawford short yesterday and he visited MS today. I am not sure where you are getting your info, but you need a new news source.

All Americans will sacrifice something due to this tragedy and the President is not immune to it either. As a matter of fact, he did finally leave for Washington to fly over New Orleans and cut his month long vacation two days short. Bravo for Mr. Bush!! He is an example to all Americans.

"As a matter of fact"? Since when did you start using facts? Let's see. I think Bush should go down there and get his hands dirty. Never mind that the Secret Service would have swept the area and the air traffic would have been disruptive and everyone of the people working down there would have to stop what they are doing when he came to their area, yea, good idea. He actually had a press confrence, on the ground. I noticed you didn't leave town. You are in an air conditioned office and you ate, slept and lived your life as you normally would today, what did you sacrifice?

I am not saying that Bush and our government did everything right. It just boils my ass to hear people that will do nothing but bitch. Gas pricing aside, not much has changed here, other than it being a slow Labor Day Weekend. That may affect us later. We all must endure the Bush bashing liberals talking about Bush and his magical weather machine, and blaming him if he doesn’t physically go down to where ever “ground zero” may be today and pluck twin orphans out of a raging river. Again, not to be cold, but when does personal responsibity factor in to this? I mean, just under a million people decided to live in an area that was below sea level, on a coast that has a history of being hit by hurricanes. Then, their “officials” only prepared for a category 3 when they knew that a 4 or 5 could easily hit. Who is responsible for their action when they stay, move back or rebuild.

P.S. Please visit this link. This is a view I have not heard before. Food for thought.

Great article taking that liberal to task. And thank you for your reference to my blog.
I'm being sent down there to help with the Tennesse Disaster Medical Assistance Team. I won't have a laptop but will give you a first-hand report on my blog.
